Carlos Alcaraz successfully overcame another hurdle at the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, Wimbledon, but not without some issues.
Alcaraz defeated French tennis player Ugo Humbert in the round of 16 with a score of 3-1, achieving victory despite a complete collapse in the third set.
Alcaraz won the first two sets with routine scores of 6-3 and 6-4, but then experienced a total meltdown and a nightmare set.
In the third set, the Spaniard quickly lost his serve, then two more, allowing Humbert to win 6-1 in just half an hour.
However, this did not shake Alcaraz’s composure. He remained calm and finished the match in the fourth set, winning 7-5, utilizing the first match point he had.
World number one Jannik Sinner also advanced, defeating American Ben Shelton with a confident 3-0 score. The set scores were 6-2, 6-4, 7-6.
In the quarterfinals, Sinner will play against the winner of the match between Dimitrov and Medvedev, while Alcaraz awaits the victor of the clash between Tommy Paul and Roberto Bautista Agut.
