North Sound (Antigua and Barbuda) (AFP) – Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first in the T20 World Cup Super Eight Group 1 match against Bangladesh in Antigua on Wednesday.
Australia, who topped their first round group with a 100% record, made two changes to their side for their first game of the Super Eight phase, restoring Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood to the team.
“It looks like a decent wicket, I don’t think it’ll change too much over the 40 overs,” Marsh said after a toss at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium that was slightly delayed by light rain.
“I think it’s always nice to get used to the conditions somewhat. It’s a good ground and hopefully, we can have a good night,” Marsh added.
Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto said he would have preferred to bowl first, but was encouraged by the wicket. “I’d have liked to bowl as well but happy to bat first,” he said.
“The wicket looks good so we’ll try to do something special today.”
