The football teams Olympiakos and Fiorentina are playing the Conference League final tonight in Athens.
Olympiakos pulled off a big surprise in the semifinals by eliminating Aston Villa with an aggregate score of 6-2. Following that, they played three matches in the Greek championship with mixed results, and tonight they are highly motivated to become the first Greek club to win a European title. The coach will not have Fadiga and Leidner available due to injuries, but they are sure to have strong support from the stands in their city, even though they are playing at AEK’s stadium, usually home to their fierce rivals.
On the other hand, Fiorentina eliminated Club Brugge in the semifinals and then played three very good matches in Serie A. Fiorentina’s form is clearly at a high level, and many consider them the favorites tonight, also due to their higher-quality squad, which will be missing Castrovilli and Sottil due to injuries.
Fiorentina is also motivated to correct the failure of last season when they lost the Conference League final to West Ham. Olympiakos and Fiorentina have not played against each other before.
