Jake Paul has swiftly secured a replacement opponent for his upcoming fight on July 20th, following the postponement of his match against 58-year-old boxing legend Mike Tyson. Tyson, who had to withdraw due to health concerns, will be replaced by 32-year-old Mike Perry, a younger and more active competitor.
Perry, who has a diverse fighting background, had only one professional boxing match in 2015, which he lost by knockout. After this, he transitioned to MMA, where he compiled a 14-8 record. Between 2016 and 2021, Perry fought 15 times in the UFC, achieving a 7-8 record. Over the past three years, Perry has emerged as a major star in bare-knuckle boxing, maintaining a perfect 5-0 record in the BKFC.
The change in opponent has also prompted a venue shift. Originally slated for the AT&T Stadium in Texas, the event will now be held at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, which has a seating capacity of 21,000. The switch was made recognizing that without the draw of Tyson, filling the larger stadium would be challenging for Paul.
This bout marks Paul’s 11th professional boxing match, and fans are eager to see how he will fare against the more seasoned and versatile Perry. As the fight date approaches, anticipation is building for what promises to be an exciting and competitive showdown.
