Seven-time champion and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton reminisced about the “old days” and played retro games on Sony’s PlayStation 1 console.
These are games that many feel nostalgic about, such as F1 2000, Gran Turismo, Driver, and others.
When he turned on the TV and started the console, Lewis remembered Driver and drove a car on the track. After that, he chose F1 2000 and emphasized that he always chose McLaren’s car. Then it was time for Gran Turismo, and he chose the purple R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R.
Reminder, in the arcade mode of GT1, there were 37 cars available, and the GT-R was one of the best. In this case, Mercedes couldn’t be chosen because the German brand joined the franchise with the release of the game Gran Turismo 2. Hamilton’s future F1 team Ferrari only “arrived” in the game Gran Turismo 5.
“It’s incredible how graphics have progressed. My first console was the original Nintendo, and I got the PlayStation 1 for Christmas after my parents saved up. However, I wanted a new helmet, so we returned the PS and got it. We couldn’t afford to paint it, so my father did it. I remember playing F1 2000 and games before it. I always picked McLaren, signed a contract with them, and dreamed of being in that car. The controls are much different. Gran Turismo is definitely the best game I’ve tried because of the way the cars move. I’ve played GT games, Mario, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, all the Call of Duty titles, Crash Bandicoot, GTA… and those old games,” said Hamilton.
Hamilton revealed in the video that he still takes time for gaming today and that he mostly plays Call of Duty and Fortnite.
