The Formula 1 race for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone delivered a true spectacle, with home driver Lewis Hamilton taking victory in the best race of the season!
Hamilton secured his first win in the Formula 1 championship since December 5, 2021, when he triumphed in Saudi Arabia, in the memorable season where Max Verstappen ended his years-long dominance.
At the start of the race, Russell maintained the lead, Hamilton stayed second, and Verstappen managed to move ahead of Norris into third position, marking the most significant change in the first lap. However, Verstappen couldn’t find the right rhythm, and in the 15th lap, Norris overtook him. Shortly after, both Mercedes drivers made mistakes at the first corner, allowing Norris to take the lead!
At that moment, rain began to fall, and the McLaren car handled the wet conditions much better, propelling Oscar Piastri to the top of the standings.
However, Piastri was the last to change tires when the rain started, losing many positions and dropping to 6th place.
Norris maintained the lead in the rainy conditions, with Hamilton in second and Verstappen in third in the following laps. In the 34th lap, Russell had to retire due to car issues.
The rain stopped a few laps later, and almost all drivers switched to dry tires in the 39th lap. Norris was the only one among the leaders who didn’t, going for a tire change a lap later and making a mistake that allowed Hamilton to take the lead!
Hamilton held on to the top spot until the end, winning the race, with Verstappen finishing second just a second and a half behind. The Dutchman overtook Norris four laps before the end. The Brit in the McLaren finished third, followed by Piastri, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Stroll, Alonso, Albon, and Tsunoda in the top ten.
Verstappen remains the leader in the overall drivers’ standings with 255 points, Norris is second with 171 points, Leclerc third with 150 points, and Hamilton remains eighth with just 110 points.
