British marathon runner and athlete Russ Cook finally reached the coast of Tunisia yesterday, less than a year after embarking on an incredible feat in which he ran the entire length of Africa.
Exactly 352 days ago, Cook set off from South Africa on a mission to run the entire length of this continent, which is equivalent to the length of 358 marathons. In the end, he succeeded in his goal, despite facing significant challenges during the adventure.
This resilient Briton managed to reach his destination despite numerous injuries, illnesses, lack of food, water, and clothing, and even getting lost in the jungle. He covered over 16,000 kilometers.
Many fans joined the UK runner in the final leg of his mission on Sunday when he completed the feat in Tunisia. Fans came from all over the world to participate in the celebration.
Over the past year, Cook has garnered a large number of fans who have donated money to him and followed him through social media. He has raised nearly a million dollars, all of which will go to charity. His journey has been documented on YouTube.
Before embarking on this incredible adventure, Russ Cook admitted to CNN that he was scared of everything that awaited him, but despite everything, he managed to complete a mission that seems unfeasible to everyone else.

“When I’m an old man sitting in my rocking chair with 18 grandchildren running around, I’ll have a few stories to tell them, and that’ll be a good thing,” Cook revealed to CNN.
In addition to all the troubles he encountered, he also experienced a diplomatic scandal because he only received a visa allowing him to cross from Mauritania to Algeria with a delay.
