The U.S. Basketball Team at the 2023 World Championship arrived without the NBA’s biggest stars and ended up without a medal after losing to eventual champions Germany (111:113) in the semifinals and to Canada (118:127, overtime) in the battle for third place. A superteam is gearing up for the Paris Olympics.
Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reveals that the USA team has filled 11 out of 12 spots for players who will be led by Steve Kerr in Paris. NBA’s big stars have announced their return to the roster, and indeed, the Americans will once again be the team others will try to catch.
Superstars on Kerr’s roster Leading the list are megastars LeBron James and Stephen Curry, joined by Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker…, and Joel Embiid making his debut for the USA team. All players on the list, except Embiid, who moved from Cameroon to the USA at the age of 16 and acquired French citizenship two years ago, have previously represented the USA in major competitions.
LeBron James returns to the Olympics for the first time since London 2012, marking his fourth appearance at the basketball Olympic tournament. Curry has not played in the Olympics before.
The basketball tournament at the Paris Olympics will take place from July 27 to August 11, with the USA starting in Group C alongside Serbia, South Sudan, and another yet-to-be-determined qualifier.
